What is Reuteri (roy-tur-eye)? One of over 400 species of friendly bacteria found in the gastrointestinal tract, Lactibacillus Reuteri was discovered by Dr Reuter, a German biochemist. Transferred naturally to infants through breast feeding, Reuteri is one of the first strains of friendly bacteria to colonize and become an improtant part of the gastrointestinal flora. L. Reiteri is the only Lactobaccilus species to produce and secrete Reuterin, which has been shown to exhibit broad spectrum antimicrobial activity, which promotes: healthy digestion, and intestinal integrity. Reuteri stimulates gastrointestinal epithelial cell development and improves intestinal cell structures (longer villi & deeper crypts) leading to more efficient nutrient uptake, enhanced physical growth and overall better health.
Reuteri uniquely contains a specific protein "AGGH" that encourages lactobacteria to cluster and colonize in the intestinal tract. In clinical use, Reuteri effectivley colonized in over 90% of patients.
